Wedgwood

Encyclopedia : W : WE : WED : Wedgwood

For other uses of this term, see Wedgwood (disambiguation).
Wedgwood is a British pottery firm, originally founded by Josiah Wedgwood, and possibly the most famous name ever associated with pottery in any form, which in 1987 merged with Waterford Crystal to become Waterford Wedgwood.

Josiah Wedgwood was also the patriarch of the Darwin — Wedgwood family. Many of his descendants were closely involved in the management of the company down to the time of the merger with the Waterford Company.

The name of 'Wedgewood' is also connected (through Enoch Wedgewood) with the pottery industry. There were other Wedgwoods in British public life (in addition to those named here) who are mostly related to the extended family of Josiah Wedgwood.
