Weena Morloch
Encyclopedia : W : WE : WEE : Weena Morloch
Weena Morloch is an Industrial and Noise band fronted by Samsas Traum frontman Alexander Kaschte. The name Weena Morloch came from the H.G. Wells book The Time Machine, ("Weena" is the name of the girl that the male character George falls in love with in the futureworld he travels to) and the name "Morloch" came from the monsters that were hunting Eloi. Weena's first album Kunst-X=? was released in 2001, and more of noise based album, featuring samples from various horror movies (one familiar one been from the movie Phantasm) and was similar to Japanese noise artist Merzbow. The album was not well received by the press, and apparently it flopped due to poor record sales. After releasing more material under his other name Sasmus Traum name Weena released the follow up the more Industrial-dance inspired Kadaverkomplex in 2002. Kadaverkomplex (which came with sticker saying the images inside the album were not suitable for minors) did successfully better, with the excellent rammstein-esque single Kugel Im Gesicht, and featured more darker tunes, such as the eerie Terror Über Alles which was sort of a noise-music take on what on happened in September 11th. Weena Morloch is currently on hiatus right now until Alexander decides to release another album.
