Encyclopedia : W : WE : WEM : Wembley Park tube station

Wembley Park tube station is a London Underground station at Wembley. It is on the Jubilee Line, between Kingsbury and Neasden, and on the Metropolitan Line between Preston Road and Finchley Road. It is in Travelcard Zone 4.

It was opened on October 14, 1893 on what is now the Metropolitan Line for football, and was fully opened on May 12, 1894. It was first served by Bakerloo Line trains on November 20, 1939, as part of the Stanmore branch which was transferred to the Jubilee Line on May 1 1979.

In 2004 major redevelopment work started on the station including the building of the White Horse Bridge. This should be finished by early 2006 so that it will be able to deliver people to the newly rebuilt Wembley Stadium.
