Zachodnie Pomorze Voivodship (Polish: województwo zachodniopomorskie) is an administrative region or voivodship in northwestern Poland. It borders on Lubusz, Wielkopolska and Pomorze voivodships.
It was established January 1, 1999, out of the former Szczecin, Koszalin, and parts of other, neighboring, voivodships pursuant to the Local Government Reorganization Act of 1998. The voivodship's name recalls the region's traditional name, Pomorze Zachodnie.
This is a picturesque region of Baltic Sea coast, unspoilt nature, lakes and woodlands. Major coastal towns include Koszalin, Świnoujście, Międzyzdroje, Dziwnów, Kołobrzeg, and Mielno.
Zachodniopomorskie (West Pomerania) Province is located in northwestern part of Poland and belongs to the Baltic district. In the north, the Baltic Sea becomes its natural border line. In the west it borders Germany, Wielkopolskie and Lubuskie Provinces, and Pomorskie Province in the east. The closeness of the borders reveals that the district is situated on the crossroad of significant trade routes of international importance: from Scandinavia south to southern Europe; from Western Europe (Italy, Croatia, Czech Republic, Slovakia to the Baltic countries takes place, since the province consititutes an important connection point of the trade network that exists on the Baltic Sea. Zachodniopomorskie is the fifth largest province of Poland in terms of its size. Among the biggest cities of the region are the capital Szczecin, as well as Koszalin, Stargard Szczecińskiand Świnoujście.
Zachodniopomorskie belongs to the greenest regions of Poland. It is also one of the most attractive ones when it comes to tourism. It it characterized by incredible diversity of the landscape: wonderful beaches, hundreds of clean lakes, forests full of wild life spreading mainly up the hills of the glacial lakes areas. Zachodniopomorskie is also rich in various forms and styles of architecture that were built during the Middle Ages as well as the Gothic, Baroque, and Renaissance periods. There is a diverse repertoire of theaters, festivals, museums and galleries. During a few-day long annual Sea Festival in Szczecin a number of free open air concerts take place. In Świnoujście during summer time we have FAMA - Academic Youth Arts Festival the event with a several years of tradition that attracts not only youth but also those who used to be students many ago. For those who prefer the glamor of the lives of film or stage celebrities, they can go to Międzyzdroje]] and observe the Festival Of The Stars which draws many of the most popular actors. In Wolin an exceptional Viking Festival takes place. Vikings from the whole Europ travel (or sail) there annually. During this events tradition dating to centuries ago comes to live in a historical settlement Unquestiontable magnet that attracts guest from almost all over Europ is an offer of famous sanatoria and health resorts . Brine and peloid dicsovered as early as in 19th century together with the goethemal water resources are the main popularity factor of Świnoujście, Kamień Pomorski or Połczyn Zdrój. Modern and constantly expading SPA complex offering natural health treatments also enrich the health attractions of the region . Apart from that, there are a great number of number of facilities made for active tourism and sports proctices. Developing accommodations and foot network as well as well-developed transportation on land, on sea and in the air make it possible to enjoy all of the attractions of the region for the whole year without any limitations.
The capital of this administrative region is Szczecin.

Western Pomerania historic region
Western Pomerania (also West Pomerania, Zachodnie Pomorze, Szczecin Pomerania, Odra Pomerania) is a geographic and historic region in northern Poland's western Pomorze. In a wider sense, the term also includes Middle Pomerania and Germany's Vorpommern.
