The Westchester Hills Cemetery, approximately 20 miles north of New York City, was established at 400 Saw Mill River Road in Hastings-on-Hudson, Westchester County, New York. It welcomes Christians and Jews to be buried in it, and many well-known entertainers and performers are interred there. It contains both Mount Hope and the Stephen Wise Free Synagogue cemeteries.Amongst its famous residents is composer George Gershwin (1898-1937) and his brother, lyrical composer Ira Gershwin (1896-1983). Well-regarded drama teachers of The Actors Studio, Lee Strasberg and his wife, Paula Strasberg, are also buried in Westchester Hills Cemetery.
