"Who Do You Think You Are" was the fourth single released from the Spice Girls' first album, Spice in March 1997 in the U.K.

Song information

"Who Do You Think You Are" became the official Comic Relief song of 1997, and of course with the Spice Girls' massive popularity and their debut album, Spice, selling by the bucketload, "Who Do You Think You Are" and the other half of the double A-side, "Mama", was set to be a huge hit. Charities benefited greatly from the 672,577 copies sold. The song topped the UK charts for three weeks, making the Spice Girls the first ever act in UK Chart history to have their first four singles make number one, breaking the record set by Gerry & the Pacemakers three decades before. The song was never released officially in the United States because the American market is slower moving than most others and "2 Become 1" was still popular there. However, due to high popularity and demand, the song was constantly played on radio and TV.

There are two different versions of the video. Both feature the girls singing and dancing in front of various colorful backgrounds. They are also performing in front of an energenic crowd. There are also various people acting crazy in front of the camera. The other version is almost the same (known as the Sugar Lumps version), except in this version there are old lady versions of the Spice Girls (played by Kathy Burke, Lulu, Dawn French, Jennifer Saunders and Llewella Gideon) dancing and lipsyncing behind the actual Spice Girls. Part of the second version described is featured in the "One Hour of Girl Power" VHS.
