Wilfrid Scott-Giles

Charles Wilfred Scott-Giles (1893-1982) was an officer of arms at the College of Arms in London. Scott-Giles read history at Cambridge between 1919 and 1922, became a leading authority on heraldry before being appointed Fitzalan Pursuivant of Arms Extraordinary. In addition to numerous books and articles on matters heraldic, most notably Civic Heraldry in England and Wales and The Romance of Heraldry, he wrote a standard history of Sidney Sussex College, published in 1951.
