The Winnetka district of Los Angeles, California, is a suburb in the Western part of the San Fernando Valley. Winnetka is bordered by Canoga Park on the west, Woodland Hills on the south, Chatsworth to the north, and Reseda to the east. Major throughfares include Winnetka Avenue, Roscoe Boulevard, Sherman Way, Saticoy Avenue and Vanowen Street.

History

Named by Charles Weeks for his local poultry business that he named after another that he owned in Winnetka, Illinois.

Before World War II, this area was rural (as was Chatsworth).

The district of Winnetka was originally part of Canoga Park, but later it was separated into its own district of the city of Los Angeles.
