Encyclopedia : W : WO : WOJ : Wojciech Frykowski

Wojciech Frykowski (December 22, 1936 - August 9, 1969) was a Polish writer who was murdered in the home of Roman Polanski by members of the Charles Manson "Family".

He was a very close friend of movie director Roman Polanski and appeared in one of Polanski's early Polish made short films, Mammals in 1962 as a thief. He came from Poland to the United States in the hope of furthering his writing career, but did not meet with success.

Frykowski was involved in a common-law relationship with coffee heiress Abigail Folger who was a close friend of Polanski's wife, actress Sharon Tate. Frykowski and Folger agreed to stay with Tate, who was eight months pregnant, while Polanski was in Europe working on a film project. The couple was murdered, along with Sharon Tate, Jay Sebring and Steven Parent by members of Charles Manson's "Family" at the Polanski residence in Beverly Hills, California.

Frykowski was cremated and his ashes were buried in the St. Józef Cemetery in Łódź, Poland.

He is a grandfather of Agnieszka Frykowska, known as "Frytka", who competed in the Polish edition of the reality television series Big Brother.
