The Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL) is a national amateur women's soccer league in the United States. The WPSL started as the Western Division of the USISL's W-League, breaking away in 1998. The league is sanctioned by the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA) as an affiliate of the United States Soccer Federation (USSF).

Goal of WPSL

The goal of the WPSL is to promote and develop women's soccer at the highest level. Since the folding of the WUSA many former professional players are on WPSL rosters.

Expansion and Contraction

For the 2006 WPSL Season, a wave of expansion was undertaken, adding teams in Delaware, Virginia, Florida, Colorado, California, Missouri, New York, and New Jersey.

2006 Season

F.C. Indiana enter the 2006 season as defending champions, having defeated host New England Mutiny in the 2005 semifinals and California Storm (featuring internationals Brandi Chastain and Sissi) in the 2005 finals.

The 2006 season will end with the WPSL National Championship, hosted by the Utah Spiders, on July 29-30, 2006. Due to the geographic imbalance of the league, there will be varied qualifying methods for the four places in the Championships:
