Wrestling singlet
Encyclopedia : W : WR : WRE : Wrestling singlet
A wrestling singlet (or simply singlet) is clothing commonly used in amateur wrestling. Looked at closely, it is essentially a pair of shorts and a tank top attached together. It is mostly made from a streching material. The most common material used for making wrestling singlets is spandex, as it streches and can be worn tight to the wrestler's skin. This thightness is beneficial, because the opponent doesn't have a good grip on the other player's clothing.
Looks of a singlet
In most wrestling matches one sees two colors of singlets: one player wears a red one, while his opponent wears a blue one. In most high school and college wrestling matches, the players wear singlets in their team colors. They don't need to be red and blue, although this is of course still possible, considering the team colors can also be red and/or blue.Other clothes
Most wrestlers just wear a singlet to a wrestling match (underwear and cup included), while others prefer to put on a t-shirt under their singlet. This can be done to prevent the wrestler from getting cold, but also to absorb some of the sweat from the wrestler.External links
