X-Y-Z matrix

Encyclopedia : X : XY : XYZ : X-Y-Z matrix

The term X-Y-Z matrix is used to refer to the generalization of the concept of matrix to three dimensions.

An X-Y-Z matrix [A] will thus have components [A_] where

[1\le i\le M, \ 1\le j \le N, \ 1\le k \le P ]
for some positive integers [M, N, P.]

Such matrices are helpful for example when considering grids in three dimensions, as in computer simulations of three-dimensional problems.
