XYplorer
Encyclopedia : X : XY : XYP : XYplorer
XYplorer is a file manager for Windows 98/NT/ME/2000/XP. Prior to version 4.0, it was known as Tracker (the product name was followed by a "V" and the version series number, e.g., version 3.0 was called "TrackerV3"). XYplorer is a hybrid file manager that combines features found in navigational and orthodox file managers. Instead of dual folder panes, it features a file tree and a tabbed interface for folders that supports drag-and-drop between tabs. Another feature is an information panel at the bottom that can be used to view file properties and contents, generate reports, and find files. The information panel can be hidden, shown and resized via hotkeys. The search facility supports Boolean logic, Regular Expressions, whole word and fuzzy matching, binary string search, and multiple location search.
XYplorer is developed by Donald Lessau and is offered under a home license (free of charge for non-commercial use) and a professional license. Lessau has announced that the home license will be discontinued at the end of March, 2006.
