Xfera

Xfera is the name of the future fourth mobile operator of Spain. They will operate a UMTS network. After several technology and market problems in 2001, in December 2003 the Board of Directors, supported by the shareholders decided to make an additional investement of €135 million, and to open negotiations with Amena to allow use of their network where Xfera don't have coverage.
Its main shareholders were ACS, Alba and Abertis. In June 2006 TeliaSonera, a minority holder of Xfera, acquired almost 80pc of Xfera's shares and stated that Xfera would start building its UMTS network and start offering mobile services later in 2006. http://www.startsidan.telia.se/com/telia/ics/portal/apps/press/PressReleasePage.html?id=133681&disclaimerId=&referer=PressIngressPage.html&lang=EN&year=2006
