Xi'an International Studies University (XISU) (西安外国语学院) was founded in 1952 in the province of Shaanxi, in the ancient city of Xi'an. It was one of the oldest language schools in People's Republic of China.
Eight languages are taught in XISU: English, Russian, French, German, Japanese, Spanish, Italian and Chinese (for Chinese students as well as for foreign students). They are regrouped in 17 bachelor and 11 masters degrees.
There are also ten study centers on the following fields: foreign languages and literatures, foreign language teaching, bilingual dictionary editing, etc.
About 20,000 students are studying in the establishment.
