Yamanashi (山梨市 -shi) is a city located in Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan. In spite of the name, it is not the capital of the prefecture, which is Kofu.
In 2003 the city had an estimated population of 32,223 and a population density of 606.72 persons per km². The total area is 53.11 km².
The city was founded on July 1, 1954.
