Yanai (柳井市; -shi) is a city located in Yamaguchi, Japan.
As of 2003, the city has an estimated population of 33,161 and the density of 259.35 persons per km². The total area is 127.86 km².
The interchange and the expressway is located in the east.
Yanai is bounded by Hikari.
