Yashiro Nanakase is a videogame character from the King of Fighters series.
History
The true origins of the Orochi fighter known as Yashiro are shrouded in mystery. He was a wanderer who traveled the world at his leisure, and played his guitar to his heart's content.
He then found two people who seemed to understand him: in France, he meets Shermie, a beautiful female keyboardist. Even though he notices there's something familiar on her, Yashiro got hooked on her. Afterwards, in Sweden, he meets a kid named Chris who, although seemingly quite antisocial, made an excellent drummer. As Chris was a drummer, Yashiro thought of making a band, and soon they played all around the world, making thousands of fans. Yashiro become a celebrity, but he also felt something special between him and his partners.
Yashiro looked forward to playing at a big venue in Japan. The day arrived, and a huge crowd arrived at the performance. He then spotted a red-haired man stirring up the crowd. Yashiro leaves, but not without experiencing the feeling of something familiar in the soul of Iori, similar to Shermie and Chris.
Yashiro spent the following days developing deadly fighting techniques, so he could exact revenge on that redhead. His chance appeared by the time of the King of Fighters '97 tournament. However, his true self revealed itself throughout the tournament. He was revealed to be the sacred king of the parched earth, one of the four sacred kings of Orochi, and proceeded to fight to get energy for the Orochi's resurrection. Despite his new form, however, the Orochi had achieved enough energy at that point. They then poured it all into Chris, who made a startling transformation into the original Orochi. However, the resurection was inturupted by Kyo Kusanagi and Iori Yagami. Kyo proceeds to engage the Orochi in battle, but is blown away by his phenomenal power. Iori Yagami, and later Chizuru Kagura join him in the fight, and the tables begin to turn. Realizing his defeat was near, The Orochi used the last of his power to transform Iori into Orochi Iori. Believing his transformation would turn him against his teammates, The Orochi chuckled in triumph... until Iori grabbed him instead. Now, holding the Orochi in place, Iori told Kyo to finish him off. Kyo did so, then Chizuru sealed the Orochi up. The Orochi fighters and Yashiro, however, were never seen again.
Trivia
- Yashiro appears as Ralf's Another Striker in KOF 2000.
- Yashiro hates Iori not only because of his role as a servant of Orochi, but also because Iori is a rival musician.
- Yashiro is the only member of the New Faces team whose last name is known.
- Despite the fact that Yashiro, Shermie, and Chris are assumed dead post King of Fighters 97, they continue making non-canon appearances.
- Yashiro makes an appearance in the ending of Shermie in SNK Gal Fighters where he ponts out it would have been better to use the magic talismin to awaken Orochi rather then get a big hamster cage. (Shermie's hamsters recently had babies.)
- Yashiro makes a cameo in KOF Maximum Impact, he's in the Esaka stage with Goro Daimon, and Ramon.
Orochi Yashiro
- The Orochi New Face Team is made as counterpart to the Japan Team, with Orochi Yashiro being the counterpart of Goro Daimon.
- In Orochi Form, Yashiro becomes able to utilize the element of earth, increasing his physical strength and range of his attacks.
- His skin tone also turns a darker hue and the color of his jacket changes to a purple tint. Along with Shermie and Chris's Orochi transformations, Yashiro loses much of his original personality and becomes crazed simialar to Iori's riot of the blood, although the three are able to control the mindset of the transformation to an degree.
