Yehe Nara
Encyclopedia : Y : YE : YEH : Yehe Nara
The Yehe Nara were a Manchu clan who ruled Yehe, one of the Hūlun Four States. In English translation,Yehe means 'river bank', Nara means 'sun'.
Yehe Nara resisted the unification of the Jurchen by Nurhaci to the very end, but was absorbed by force in 1619. As the last prince of Yehe Nara Jintaiji died by suicide, he cursed Nurhaci that as long as a Yehe Nara woman lives, she will remember their vengeance and bring down the Aisin Gioro clan. This curse seemingly became reality as the clan's last empress dowager Cixi's disastrous rule helped lead to the downfall of the Qing Dynasty in 1912.
