The Ying Yang Twins are an Atlanta-based crunk rap duo consisting of Kaine (born Eric Jackson on December 16,1978) and D-Roc (born D'Angelo Holmes on December 16, 1978). Despite their name, they are not related. Their music focuses on party, sexual and relationship themes, and is often quite vulgar. They also enjoy rapping about strippers and their experiences in strip clubs.
They first came to notice in 2000 with the single, "Whistle While You Twurk," which got play on urban and pop radio stations, and peaked at #16 on the US R&B/Hip-Hop chart. Their full-length debut album, ''Thug Walkin, came out later that year. Their next album, ' (2002) sold quite well, but they didn't really achieve popularity till they collaborated with the "king of crunk" Lil Jon in 2003 for "Salt Shaker." The party anthem was a huge club and radio hit and soon got the duo a deal with TVT Records.
The first album for the label, Me & My Brother, yielded two more hits — "What's Happnin!" and "Naggin'." The same year the duo appeared on Britney Spears' album In the Zone and her television special of the same name. In 2004, TVT released the remix-filled My Brother & Me with a bonus DVD of the group's videos. An album, U.S.A. (United State of Atlanta) appeared in the summer of 2005 as its singles "Wait (The Whisper Song)", "Badd," and "Shake" were dominating urban radio. U.S.A. (Still United), a collection of outtakes, remixes, and collaborations also appeared.
