Yirmumah is a webcomic created and drawn by D.J. Coffman. It is currently located at http://www.yirmumah.net and updates a minimum of five days a week. This webcomic participates in the Daily Grind Iron Man Challenge.
It began in 1998 as a solo minicomic project by Coffman. He would distribute free copies to comic shops in the Pittsburgh area. It eventually attracted a small cult-like following. The original stories were slice of life "semi-autobiographical" comics about Coffman's life as a struggling freelance comic book artist. Many of the characters within Yirmumah are loosely based on Coffman's real life friends and acquantices.
After discovering the world of online publishing, Coffman began to experiment with different online versions of Yirmumah while continuing to distribute new strips in print and for fillers in other comic books.
In 2000,Coffman began collaborating with writer Robert McDeavitt on the comic strip GRAVITY which appeared daily online and in 50 newspapers across the U.S.
The current version of Yirmumah was launched in October 2003, with co-writer Bob McDeavitt who wrote for the strip . In 2005 Yirmumah started its own fan club, "Club Yirmumah", allowing users to access bonus content and see the strips before they go live on the site. There are also several Yirmumah comics in print.
In October of 2005, Bob McDeavitt resigned from his post as co-writer, and Coffman continues on his own maintaining a Monday through Friday update schedule.
Yirmumah also is featured or appears regularly on sites such as UCOMICS.COM, CRAPVILLE.COM and CRACKED.COM
