Yo Ho (A Pirate's Life for Me) (1967) is the theme song for the Pirates of the Caribbean attractions at Disney theme parks. The music was written by George Bruns with lyrics by Xavier Atencio. It's origins are loosely derived from Robert Louis Stevenson's sea-shanty "Dead man's chest" found in the novel Treasure Island (1881).
In the Movies
The song is also featured in the film [[Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl]]. A few bars are sung by young Elizabeth, who is then informed that it's a pirate call. Elizabeth teaches it to Jack Sparrow while they are marooned on an island and it is then sung again at the end by Jack Sparrow. The song appears in the preview for [[Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest]], again sung by young Elizabeth.Mickey's Fun Songs
A version of this song with alternate lyrics was featured in the Beach Party At Walt Disney World video of the Mickey's Fun Songs series.Lyrics
These are the lyrics to the song "Yo Ho, Yo Ho, A Pirate's Life For Me":Yo Ho, Yo Ho! A pirate's life for me.
We pillage, we plunder, we rifle and loot.
Drink up me 'earties, Yo Ho!
We kidnap and ravage and don't give a hoot.
Drink up me 'earties, Yo Ho!
Yo Ho, Yo Ho! A pirate's life for me.
We extort, we pilfer, we filch and sack.
Drink up me 'earties, Yo Ho!
Maraud and embezzle and even hijack.
Drink up me 'earties, Yo Ho!
Yo Ho, Yo Ho! A pirate's life for me.
We kindle and char, inflame and ignite.
Drink up me 'earties, Yo Ho!
We burn up the city, we're really a fright.
Drink up me 'earties, Yo Ho!
We're rascals, scoundrels, villans and knaves.
Drink up me 'earties, Yo Ho!
We're devils and black sheep, really bad eggs.
Drink up me 'earties, Yo Ho!
Yo Ho, Yo Ho! A pirate's life for me.
We're beggars and blighters and ne'er-do-well cads.
Drink up me 'earties, Yo Ho!
Aye! But we're loved by our mommies and dads!
Drink up me 'earties, Yo Ho!

As a sidenote, an early, unused verison of the lyrics contained the introduction stanza:
"A pirate’s life is a happy life
Drink up me 'earties, Yo Ho!
A rolickin’, frolicin’, brawlikn’ life
Drink up me 'earties, Yo Ho!"
