Zayd (زيد) also transliterated as Zaid is one of the most respected people in the Arab and Muslim world. Zayd which is an Arabic name, meaning abundance or growth or "one who progresses and makes other people progress". Other transliterations include "Zeid" and "Zaid". Not to be confused with the name Sa'id.

A famous person named Zaid in Islam is Zayd ibn Harithah, who was the orphan boy fostered by Muslim Prophet Muhammad, who treated him as if he was his own son to the extent that he was called 'Zaid Ibn Muhammad', which means 'Zaid the son of Muhammad'. "Zaid Ibn Muhammad" is also the only Sahaba mentioned by name in the Qur'an.
