Zoom-lens reflex camera
Encyclopedia : Z : ZO : ZOO : Zoom-lens reflex camera
Zoom-lens reflex (ZLR) are SLR, or more commonly dSLR type cameras with a permanently attached zoom lens. The title is usually only applicable to prosumer class models.
The digital ZLR reduces the risk of sensor contamination, as it is not exposed as it would be while changing a SLR lens. The main drawback of the ZLR is that it lacks the ultimate flexibility of the SLR as it is restricted to one zoom lens and any filter mount accessories, though it is typically a more economic alternative to a dSLR and a single zoom lens.
