Zürich International Airport also called Kloten Airport, is located at [47°29′N 8°32′E] in Kloten, canton of Zürich, Switzerland and managed by Unique Airport. It is Switzerland's largest international flight gateway and hub to Swiss International Air Lines (soon to be a Lufthansa hub). Skyguide is responsible for all Air Traffic Control for Zürich Intl. Sadly, in July 2002, a major air crash between a DHL Boeing 757 and a Bashkirian Airlines Tupolev 154 occurred in Zürich Kloten Airspace in which there were no survivors.

In 2003, Zürich International completed a major expansion project in which it built a new parking garage, a new midfield terminal, and an automated underground train to move passengers between the existing terminal complex and the new terminal.

Zürich International lost traffic when Swissair shut down its operations. When Crossair swallowed Swissair and emerged as Swiss International Air Lines, traffic grew again.

Airlines

In the future, the Hong Kong based airline, Cathay Pacific, plans to fly to Zürich from its main hub, Hong Kong International Airport. Zürich Airport is on the line Zürich-Winterthur-St. Gallen with rail service from Swiss Federal Railways to SBB Rail Station in Basel and Mulhouse, France, Bern Rail Station in Bern, Lausanne Rail Station in Lausanne, and Lucerne Rail Station in Lucerne.
